Expertise center
START4.0 is the national Competence Center dedicated to the digital, secure and sustainable transformation of Italian companies.
Created on the initiative of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy in 2019, it works to strengthen digitalization in the national production fabric. START4.0 is made up of public associates, research institutions and companies of different sizes, from large players to innovative SMEs.
Through a streamlined and transparent operating model, START4.0 and its network support companies and Public Administrations in the introduction of advanced technologies, through consultancy services, networking, specialized training and support and financing paths for innovation.
In particular, the Competence Center promotes tailor-made technological solutions for the main strategic sectors in Italy and the EU: energy, manufacturing, ports, logistics, cybersecurity, construction and healthcare.

Innovation Consulting
The Competence Center has developed specialized cybersecurity consulting services to support businesses in establishing business continuity and system recovery following a cyberattack, defining and contextualizing a cybersecurity framework, and assisting businesses in fully understanding and identifying their cyber-physical perimeter, including a comprehensive posture analysis and the design of an adaptation roadmap.

Training
START4.0’s training activities are aimed at all companies, SMEs, public administrations, and professionals operating in various industrial sectors interested in acquiring or increasing their skills.

Calls for Businesses
One of the Competence Center’s most important activities, due to its resulting economic and social impact, is the provision of grants for innovation projects through calls for proposals.

Scan & survey
START4.0 provides the opportunity to experience laser scanner technologies firsthand, usable in the field. These cutting-edge tools enable scan-to-BIM, surveying, and 3D modeling of any physical asset; utility mapping; data acquisition related to underground services; and both proof-of-concept and complete digital twin design.

Assessment
START4.0, in collaboration with Confindustria’s Digital Innovation Hub network and other strategic partners, has developed a digital maturity assessment model, which it makes available to companies.

Access to Funding
The Competence Center has developed a scouting and call analysis service, with constant monitoring and identification of calls for proposals published by various regional, national, and European bodies.

IP Protection
START4.0, with its partners and expertise, guarantees support for the security and protection of intellectual assets. The Competence Center is committed to addressing the complex legal aspects of intellectual property protection.

Alternatively, you can simply become a supplier to the Competence Center and provide technological and specialized services after registering in our public register. START4.0 collaborates with qualified providers to offer businesses high-level technological and specialized services. The Register represents a strategic tool for selecting professionals, organizations, and companies able to actively contribute to the Center’s activities, particularly in the implementation of innovation projects, training activities, technological consulting, and advanced digitalization services.
